How to Bulk Edit Product Tags in Shopify
Tags quietly run a lot of your store. They power automated collections, filter menus, search, theme badges, and app workflows. So when your tags are messy — an old campaign tag still floating around, a typo repeated 300 times, a new seasonal tag that needs adding everywhere — it matters. The problem is fixing it.
Here's how to add, remove, and clean up product tags across your whole catalog in one pass.

Why this is slow the manual way
Shopify's product admin lets you edit tags one product at a time. The native bulk editor has a tags column, but you can still only touch the products on the current page, and there's no way to say "add this tag to every product matching X" or "remove this tag everywhere" or "fix this typo across all tags." For a real catalog, that's not workable.
The fix: BulkEditly's bulk tag editing
BulkEditly edits tags across hundreds or thousands of products at once. You can:
- Add a tag to every product that matches your filter
- Remove a tag across the catalog
- Replace one tag with another
- Find & replace text inside tags — perfect for fixing a typo or renaming a convention
- Target precisely with filters — by collection, vendor, product type, price range, current tags, and more

Common scenarios
- Add a seasonal tag: Add
summer-2026to everything in your Summer collection. - Clean up after a campaign: Remove the
black-fridaytag across all products once the sale's done. - Fix a typo everywhere: Find & replace
bestselerwithbestselleracross all tags. - Rename a convention: Replace
salewithon-saleso it matches your theme's badge logic. - Tag by attribute: Filter by price range, then add a
premiumtag to everything over $100.
Staying safe
Every tag edit shows a before/after preview first, and every job is recorded in History with one-click undo — revert the whole job or individual products, with up to 180 days of history depending on your plan. If a filter caught more than you meant, you're one click from putting it back.
FAQ
Can you bulk edit tags in Shopify natively? Only partially — the native bulk editor edits tags per cell on the current page. It can't add or remove a tag across your whole filtered catalog, which is what BulkEditly does.
Can I remove a tag from all products at once? Yes — choose the Remove action, enter the tag, and apply it across all products (or a filtered subset).
Can I fix a misspelled tag everywhere? Yes — use Find & replace to correct the text inside tags across every product that has it.
Can I undo a tag change? Yes. Every tag job is recorded in History and can be reversed — the whole job or selected products.
Can I add tags only to certain products? Yes — use filters (collection, vendor, type, price, stock, existing tags) to target exactly the products you want before applying.
